One of the places of visit in the province of Bolivar is the shrine to which believers from all over the country come especially in the celebrations that are celebrated to worship the Virgin Mary. Mons. Cándido Rada, the first bishop of Guaranda, is the manager of the construction of this sanctuary built on a ravine in the parish of La Magdalena in Chimbo. Popular Festivals The feast of the Virgen del Guayco takes place on September 8 of each year. Creation date The chapel was rebuilt in 1771, after the Colonel Corregidor of Guaranda of that time, Antonio Echeandía, received a cure. The chapel had a third remodeling in 1944, in charge of Father Villagómez.
